What To Carry For Your Trip After Booking Your Machu Picchu Tour Package

By Jessica Peterson

Peru is an amazing country with beautiful landscapes, amazing people and nice food. One of the beautiful places in this country is Macchu Picchu, which is just one of those places that you have to visit at least once in your life time. If you have already finalized arrangements for your Machu Picchu tour package, then it is time to get busy and start packing up for your trip. There are a couple of must haves items that you should pack.

Your choice of footwear matters greatly. This is due to the fact that you will be walking around a lot during this trip. Some people prefer to trek to the site. In this case, you will have to walk for several days or a couple of hours to the site. It all depends on where you start trekking from. In addition, you will be hiking once you get to the site. The ground is rocky and there are lots of loose, small stones, so get shoes that have a firm grip and are comfortable to put on.

Put on clothes that are suitable for the weather. During hot weather, carry clothes that are light, a sunhat and sunglasses. During wet seasons, have on a jacket and raincoat. It is important that you wear comfortable clothes. You can never go wrong with putting on jeans, when visiting the site. Keep in mind that you are likely to take lots of photos, so put on clothes that will look nice in the photos.

You will need some warm clothes, as the weather can get pretty cold. This is even during warm months. The temperatures can be quite low just before the sun rises. But during the day it will get quite hot, so ensure that you have sunblock. Have a backpack to put your stuff in. Your backpack shouldn't be too big, as you will not be allowed to enter the site with a big backpack.

You might find it helpful to bring along a guidebook. It can give you information about the site and other things that go on around the site. Moreover, a Spanish phrasebook can be useful. Lookup a couple of phrases in Spanish to make it easier for you to converse with the local population.

Bring along your medications. Some medications can be bought at the town that is located close to the site, but you will need a subscription for some medicines, such as antibiotics. Carry some altitude sickness tabs, as you might get negatively affected by the high altitude. Motion sickness tabs can also come in handy, as the drive to the site can be quite bumpy. Insect repellent will also be useful in keeping bugs away.

Pack up your camera and water bottle. The water will help to keep you refreshed, especially if you carry it in a bottle that will keep water cool. Use your camera phone or special camera to capture beautiful photos.

Bring along your toiletries. This includes things such as your toothbrush, comb and lip balm. In addition, pack up lip balm, face cream and wet wipes. You can buy these supplies from local shops in a town that is close to the ruins.
