Halal Certified Food Provides Muslims With Peace Of Mind

The daily lives of Muslims everywhere in the world is, to a large degree, dominated by Islamic Law. The laws pertaining to what one may or may not eat and how meals must be prepared are comprehensive. This is because Muslims believe that foodstuffs not only affect the physical body, but also the morals and spirituality of a person. Islam authorities go to great lengths to make sure that Muslims are able to buy products and Halal certified food that fully comply with these laws.

Any retailer or wholesaler that wish to provide foodstuffs to Muslim communities in one form or another must obtain certification that their products adhere to the strict rules imposed by Islam. Applying for such certification can be a lengthy process and certification is easily withdrawn if the rules are not strictly kept. Every country with a significant number of practising Muslims has some form of Halaal Council.

Certain types of foodstuffs automatically never qualify for certification. Anything that contains any for of alcohol is banned by Islamic Law. Any derivative or extract used in the manufacturing or preparation of any foodstuff that was sourced from any place except a halaal abattoir is also banned outright. This is because the monitoring of halaal animal derivative and extracts in an abattoir is time consuming and difficult. All forms of pork are banned.

It is not only the ingredients and products that are used that play a role in obtaining halaal certification. The entire process whereby foodstuffs and meals are prepared is also carefully evaluated. Halaal certification involves the use of utensils and containers that have not been used for preparing non halaal products. It is even required to exclusively use separate cleaning and drying equipment.

It is not only Muslim owned restaurants, retailers and manufacturers that are eligible for halaal certification. Any company or person that can comply with each and every rule of the Islamic Law may apply. However, the presence of at least two Muslims during manufacturing and cooking processes is strongly recommended. Their job is to make sure that every rule is strictly observed at all times.

It is not only Muslims that prefer halaal foodstuffs. Many people from other religions and people that do not adhere to any religious belief prefer halaal foods. This is because the preparation process is so carefully monitored. Halaal foods are always prepared in extremely hygienic situations and this fact provides peace of mind to many people that are hesitant about the origins of the foods that they buy and eat.

Obtaining halaal certification is a complex process and applicants must go to some lengths to comply with all the rules. Sadly, there are some manufacturers and restaurants that claim to be halaal friendly or halaal compliant, but that do not boast official certification. Consumers should make sure that a product is indeed officially approved. It is also easy to check the certification of a restaurant on the internet.

In general, Muslims lead very disciplined lives. They have many rules to follow but they do so gladly because they want to be obedient to the Islamic Law. Halaal certification is there to help them make sure that they obey all the rules related to what they consume.
