Before one can even begin to start motivating people with the power of spoken word, a few things need to have already been established. Firstly, a person needs to be considered an expert in the said field they wish to imbue others with the knowledge that they possess. Sometimes those who seek to motivate need motivation themselves. Public speaking has a multitude of uses, one of those uses being able to motivate a crowd. But in some cases, the motivator needs motivation in order to do the motivating. This may be caused by a number of reasons but the most common is anxiety. Anxiety can affect the mojo of someone who is experienced with crowds and render them back to their novice state.

Speech pathologists will assess the inability and to what extent does it prevent the speaker from doing so in public. Being able to accept both the good and the bad of a problem has shown that people are able to deal with them better than those who just focus on a single aspect of what makes them have anxiety attacks regardless of whether those aspects are positive or negative. By not being put in a position to try and change them, those that suffer from anxiety caused by the inability to speak in public are able to rationally think about them and their effects.

Anxiety associated with the speech can be overcome through practice. The more a person practices a speech the less likely they are to become anxious about it and the higher the probability of confidence. The more confident the person the more likely they are to perform a speech whether it s educational or inspirational to the best of their ability at an audience.

But in all honesty, it s not all doom and gloom as all it can take is a few modifications to an accent so that people are able to hear more clearly and not give looks of confusion that may be misinterpreted as anger. Or refine how speeches are presented. This can range from introducing breathing techniques to help one stay calm during a speech or even use it to calm the anxiety that may lurk behind every word.

Failing which, the possibility of performing motivational speeches for a living may not be the best and ideal path to take. Although, it would make a great speech, irony aside. Inspiring people requires a person to be in command of the floor and capture the attention of their audience from the get-go. Which is one of the main problems preventing people to engage and speak with an audience if they battle with public speaking?

Unlike other careers. Motivational speaking is dependant upon the use of one s voice. Anxiety has the ability to make changes a career-ending move but with the use of speech therapist s such calamities can be avoided and the speaker s livelihood looked after.
