It is also important to build up a trusting relationship with the counselor. It is important to have someone like this in your life who acts like a mentor. Sometimes, they will allow you to make contract with them outside of the sessions. It can be helpful should you be struggling more on one day than another. There will be times when you want to send the therapist an email or text message. This can help you during these dark times.
