Name Tags For Employees Are Good For Marketing

By Brenda Foster

These days, there are many ways to drive sales. Right now, companies of all sizes are navigating their way around digital marketing techniques and social media profiles. While this may be the tool to increase sales or improve engagement, those with a brick and mortar operation need to consider the basics. For instance, name tags for employees are best when it comes to positive customer interaction.

Even if a person has a small operation, this small investment goes a long way and can play a large role in their marketing. For one, no one wants to be addressed as sir, madam, or hey. Sharing a first name invites customers to ask questions and possibly close a sale with the help of productive rapport given by the employee who assisted them.

Having a fancy badge or tag may seem like a good idea but the sooner someone can read the tag, the sooner a sale is likely to place. These days, customers want attention and to get their transaction done as quickly as possible. This can be a fine balance but it is possible to keep an even flow without sacrificing good customer service.

Although this may seem extreme, customer retention is a very detailed process and managers are always looking for ways to up the ante. Instead of frills made to get attention, more focus is placed on how to create a better buying experience. When a staff member is easy to identify, it makes it easier for the company to market their services if no sale takes place right away.

While some operations may put a lot of thought into their social media profile, they may overlook marketing fundamentals. Employees without an identification badge or tag may be missing out on accolades given by happy customers on review sites. Although posters on these types of sites will give a physical description of a tagless employee that gave bad service, those nameless individuals that go above and beyond rarely get a mention.

The same way that customers want to be addressed by their name when the opportunity presents itself, employees tend to feel the same way. In the case of interacting with an anonymous market researcher, it can help a worker move up in the ranks. Large companies always want to know about employees who are giving exceptional service and helping to increase their profit margin.

Having a badge or tag that is simple to read can also help those who have unusual or lengthy names. Badges with a nickname or shortened version can be helpful in communication. These are reasons to not have a badge with a lot of extra visuals surrounding the basic information about the employee.

Identification badges are also great to have for those who work outside events that represent an organization. Most people tend to think that presenting a business card with their elevator pitch is sufficient for the initial contact. However, wearing a name badge is more likely to draw in a prospect so a dialogue can begin.
