When should you start planning. Where will you be staying is the most important thing to plan right after you are ready for college, so make sure you do your best in finding the best one. In order to avoid stress, start your search right after you get accepted to college. Do not do a last minute shopping or else you will end up stressing.

See if there are any deadlines, if it has, know when will this be. For some accommodation, they have a cut off point of until when will they be accepting bookings. Make sure you take note of this to not forget it. Cut off dates differ in every university, so have plenty of time for planning so you can decide right before the cut off.

Do some research about the area to find the best location. Before you book a place, get to know the area first with the use of Street View and Google Maps. Pick between the price and your needs. Every decision you make is important. Dormitories might be cheap but you could also end up having a place with no privacy. What is great with dormitories is that food is already provided by them. This keeps you from eating out, which means you can save money.

The contract dates. Be clear to them if how long would you want the contract to last. There are some university dorms which asks students to move during Christmas and Easter. Avoid these options to not end up in getting your stuffs thrown outside by the owner. Most apartments on the other hand needs you to stay with them for at least a year.

Important things to know. Before you get the room, you must pay a one month deposit first. The money you deposited will be returned in full when there are no damages. As for the utility cost, you do not have to deal with this when you pick a dorm.

Watch out for any additional fees. For those with vehicles, you might get an additional fee in order to park your car into their parking lot. Your safety is your number one priority, so make sure that the place is secured enough, equipped with CCTV and has a security personnel.
