Advanced Solar Panels Benefit Homeowners And The Environment

By Dorothy Cooper

It is fairly safe to say that most people believe in global warming. Even the naysayers can't deny the winters are getting milder, and the summers are getting hotter. Whether you believe it is caused by the carelessness of our human footprint or just a phase in God's great plan, everyone's electricity bill continues to go up. You may have no control over what your utility company decides to charge, but you can become independent with the use of advanced solar panels.

The idea of solar is simple. The sun generates energy that can be captured and turned into electricity with the use of panels. You don't even have to believe in global warming to see how effective this technology is when it comes reducing your utility bill. It has an added benefit as well. If you decide to sell your house, you panel system will increase the price you can ask significantly.

You may have thought adding a pool in the backyard or remodeling the kitchen were improvements to be made some time in the distant future, but with this technology you can make these improvements much sooner. When you consider the rebate programs available, the tax credits you will earn, and the utilities bills that are a fraction of previous times, you begin to see how your pool can become a reality.

Most people dread seeing their monthly electricity bill come in the mail. They never know how high it will be. You won't have that problem with renewable energy because the costs are fixed. If you took out a loan to purchase your system, you could consider those payments the last of your utility bills. Once the loan is paid off, you no longer have an electric bill.

When the weather gets bad, one of the first things that happens is that the electricity goes out. If you live in the country and have a well and septic tank, you won't even be able to flush the toilet until it comes back on again. A solar system solves that problem. It is durable, reliable, and built to withstand severe weather.

One of the things that concerns scientists, government officials, and corporations is the vulnerability of our current power grid system. Those who argue that coal can be transformed into clean energy and used as an alternative are not being realistic. Renewable energy is the best answer to a fragile electrical power system.

With one of these systems, you will not only be improving your bottom line, you will be doing your part to sustain the environment. Our air and lungs are being routinely polluted by noxious emissions. Greenhouse gases contribute to warming the globe. Marine life species are becoming extinct and the oceans are being poisoned with acid rain.

We can bury our heads in the sand and pretend we are not systematically destroying our ability to inhabit the earth, or we can do something about it. The strategic and consistent use of renewable energy is a good beginning. If we don't get serious about our human footprint now, we may not have the chance later.
